Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshipped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, βAll authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28: 16-20
Interested in being baptised?
Baptism was initiated, by Jesus, as a public declaration of a personβs faith in Him as Lord and Saviour. A follower of Jesus is immersed in water in response to the demonstration of Christβs baptism in Matt 3 and command of Christ in Matt 28 to βmake disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spiritβ.
At Carey, we baptise by total immersion in water, which symbolises the believerβs identification with Christ in death, burial and resurrection, the forgiveness of sins, and the believerβs dedication of their self to God to live and walk in newness of life. Water baptism is a visual and symbolic demonstration of these things, representing and signifying our own former way of living has been put to death, we are released from the slavery of sin, and we live with Christ.
